Your regular gift makes a difference

Our nurses provide care and support for patients and families 24-hours a day - in the hospice and in homes and care homes across our area.

This is only possible due to the generous support of our local community. Just 30% of the funds it takes to run the hospice and its services comes from the NHS, meaning we count on the kindness of local people to keep our doors open.

Sponsoring a nurse from as little at £10 a month gives us a secure and regular income that helps us plan for the future.

Why sponsor a Nurse?

Being told there are no more treatment options is scary. Our nurses are there to to talk things through, reassure and offer support.

They work alongside our team of doctors, physios, occupational therapists, healthcare assistants, social workers and counsellors, to help the patient to live well at the end of their life - whatever that might mean to them.

We believe in a community where people talk openly about dying, live well until the end of life and where nobody dies alone, afraid or in pain. Will you help make this a reality by sponsoring a St Wilfrid’s Nurse and ensuring everyone who needs hospice care can get it?

"I am so often inspired by the strength and courage of patients and their loved ones in the face of often very difficult circumstances and find it truly humbling. I feel privileged to be able to help support those in need."

Charlie

Team Leader

"Quite often, when they come to the Inpatient unit it is because they are struggling at home or in the hospital, and suddenly they feel as if there's somebody there sorting it all out."

What difference does my monthly gift make?

£10 a month could give reassurance to families and carers in the middle of the night by covering the cost of Hospice Line for a few hours.

£15 a month could help patients manage their symptoms and remain comfortable in their final days by funding a nurse on our Inpatient Unit for a day.

£22 a month could help patients to stay at home by funding a Community Nurse Specialist for a day.

‘The way the nurses dealt with him, the humour, and the fact that they made him feel like a person and not a dying man was incredible. They took such good care of him, and the way they talked to him is something I will never forget.’
