As a local roofing company based in Eastbourne, Clarke Roofing is deeply rooted in our community. When we sought out a charity to support, it was essential for us to choose an organisation that mirrored our commitment to helping those in need in our local area. That is why we proudly stand by St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

St Wilfrid’s is a name familiar to many in Sussex, with their shops lining the high streets and their reputation for providing exceptional care to those facing life-limiting illnesses. We have all been touched by their work in some way or another, whether through personal experience or knowing someone who has benefitted from their specialised care.

Our initial partnership with St Wilfrid’s Hospice began with us taking advertising space in their diary, newsletters and the Reaching Out magazine. It was our way of showing our support for their cause and reaching out to the wider community to raise awareness about the vital services they provide. This was just the beginning of our journey together, and we are proud to have continued our support through various initiatives and events, with our commitment growing stronger with each passing year.

During the challenging times of the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020/21, our commitment to supporting our community remained steadfast. Recognising the critical need for personal protective equipment (PPE) within healthcare facilities, we extended our assistance to St Wilfrid’s Hospice by providing essential PPE supplies. This contribution played a vital role in ensuring the safety of both patients and healthcare workers during the pandemic. We were deeply honoured and humbled to be acknowledged for our efforts when we won the Outstanding Pandemic Support category in the St Wilfrid’s Hospice Business Awards.

In 2022, we sponsored the blue paint station at Rainbow Run – an event enjoyed by all and a testament to the spirit of our community coming together for a good cause. Building on this momentum, we organised a Charity Golf Day at The Royal Eastbourne Golf Club in the same year. Thanks to the support of 26 teams, we raised an impressive £11,000, which directly contributed to the vital services provided by St Wilfrid’s.

In 2023, we reaffirmed our commitment to St Wilfrid’s by becoming Platinum Partners. This partnership allowed us to deepen our support and engagement with the hospice. We were the headline sponsor for Starlight Stroll, also having team members participate in the walk, with others welcoming participants at the finish line – a heartwarming experience that further solidified our dedication to St Wilfrid’s’ cause. We were incredibly proud to have won the Event Sponsor Award at the Charity Champions Awards, in recognition of our significant contribution to the Starlight Stroll event.

In 2024, our commitment to the hospice remained strong as we continued our advertising efforts in the Reaching Out magazine and diary, sponsoring the pink paint station at Rainbow Run and hosting another charity golf day, which was a tremendous success, raising over £11,500.

The impact of St Wilfrid’s in our community cannot be overstated, and we are committed to doing all we can to support them in 2025 and beyond. St Wilfrid’s Hospice is making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
