Making your will

Need to know

We strongly recommend using a specialist Solicitor or will-writing expert to help create or change your will. They will make sure your wishes are clear and that the correct wording is used. They can also help to minimise the impact of Inheritance Tax.

The Law Society offers a free Find a local Solicitor service which can be found at The Law Society’s website or by calling 020 7320 5650.

If you decide to leave a gift in your will to St Wilfrid's you will need:

  • The type of gift or the amount you wish St Wilfrid's to receive.

When you use this service, we find out when you leave a gift to us in your will. You can choose whether or not to share your name with us.

As each will is checked by a qualified solicitor, they will contact you if they have any queries.

You can contact their helpline at no extra cost.

Make a Will Month

St Wilfrid’s Hospice holds a Make a Will month each September.

The scheme gives people over the age of 18 access to independent, expert advice on how to make a basic will – or update an existing one.

Local solicitors give their time and professional expertise free to you, and ask you to consider making a donation or leaving a gift in your will.
