Spiritual support

At St Wilfrid’s we believe a person’s spirituality is discovered and supported by listening to their life story.

Spirituality refers to the way we seek and express meaning and purpose. It is the way we experience our connectedness to ourselves, to family and loved ones, to our community, nature, work, creativity, the present moment, to the significant moments of our lives and in how we face death.

Our spirituality is very personal and individual. Spiritual support at St Wilfrid’s is tailored to each person’s needs and assisting them on their journey through life. We respect the diversity of culture, values and beliefs, choices and experiences.

Space at the hospice

The Retreat and its accompanying garden is a space for quiet and reflection. It is situated just off our central Street area and is open to all 24 hours a day. We invite you to make use of this quiet, tranquil space to reflect, gather your thoughts, sit in silence or talk with your family, friends or someone from our Spiritual Support team.

In the Retreat, you will find a book of memories and a Spiritual Tree to which you are welcome to add your thoughts and prayers. There are books reflecting the diversity of faith and belief together with activities to help you to reflect.
