East Sussex Hospices LGBTQ+ Network
Purpose
The East Sussex hospices LGBTQ+ Network was established with the purpose of creating a community of LGBTQ+ people working in various hospices across East Sussex. The network aims to provide peer to peer support to members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as to increase awareness and to advance best practice in service delivery.
At its core the network aims to be a queer safe space by us and for us where we can come together, recharge, celebrate ourselves and have some respite from the heteronormative and patriarchal violence that often shapes the everyday lives and subjectivities of queer and LGBTQ+ individuals in public and private spaces (Pascar et al, 2022).
Membership
The network is open to all hospice staff and volunteers in East Sussex who identify as LGBTQ+, non-gender identifying, gender fluid questioning and/ or curious. There will be some events which will be open to allies and people who want to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community.
