Charitable Trusts and Foundations

We are incredibly grateful to the Trustees of the many Charitable Trusts and Foundations of all sizes who have kindly chosen to support our work.

Grants and donations from Trusts and Foundations are a vital part of our income, contributing about 5% of our funding each year (£477,000 in our last financial year). They have helped us fund new projects, existing projects, capital items and our core running costs.

Projects funded by Trusts & Foundations in the past few years include:

  • The expansion of our community nursing service, which provides hospice support to enable people to remain living at home.
  • Vital support and counselling for carers.
  • Counselling services, including ‘Seahorses’, our bereavement project for children and young people.
  • Refurbishing our inpatient rooms (after the additional wear & tear of Covid-19).
  • Travel costs for nurses working in the community.
'The work you all do is extraordinary' - comment from the Trustee of a local charitable trust.

If your Trust or Foundation would like to support our hospice this year, we are particularly seeking funding for:

  • Our core running costs: most of our costs are the salary and running costs directly involved in providing palliative care to the local community such as nurses and healthcare assistants.
  • Nurseline: our 24/7 telephone line that patients, carers and health professionals can call for advice, support and reassurance at any hour of the day or night.
  • Our Living Well Centre: this offers a wide range of therapies, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy, to help people manage symptoms and improve their quality of life at the end of life.
  • A dedicated Welfare Officer to help people navigate the financial and practical issues that can arise with a terminal diagnosis.
