Lucky nurse wins in Local Hospice Lottery

A nurse has scooped £2,000 in the Local Hospice Lottery in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

Berni Lipscomb from Eastbourne won the top prize in the weekly draw, and it means she can visit her brother who lives in Canada.

When we phoned Berni to tell her the good news, she thought it was a cold call. “I was genuinely surprised because I’d forgotten that it’s actually a lottery!” she said.

Berni joined the Local Hospice Lottery in 2022 after a representative knocked at her door. She was happy to sign up in support of St Wilfrid’s as she knows people who have been looked after at the hospice.

“Through my work at a GP Surgery, we link with the nurses from St Wilfrid’s, and I’ve known people who have died there,” she said.

“Winning this money is a really positive thing to happen and I’m going to spend it on visiting my brother as I haven’t been out to see him for more than two years.”

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning like Berni, why not think about signing up for the Local Hospice Lottery?

Every week there are over 200 cash prizes, including a guaranteed £2,000 and a rollover that can reach £25,000. And the best part is that St Wilfrid’s directly benefits from every £1 entry you buy, so you’ll also be supporting our caring work in the community at a time when we need it more than ever before.
