Where: Across all of our retail locations in Seaford, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Heathfield and Uckfield. 

When: Varied shifts available between Monday and Saturday. 

Commitment: 8-12 hours per week over 2-3 days. Ideally, a minimum commitment of 6 months is required.

DBS: Not required for this role.

The role:

The role of Retail Team Leader is a very exciting and ambitious role that has been developed to not only support the potential development for someone within their future career, training or education but we hope also demonstrates we recognise the abundance of skills and experience our volunteers are able to offer us. 

You will lead a team of volunteers at the shop based at the hospice. To ensure that the shop is open during the agreed hours and support the whole team in generating income for hospice care.

Tasks: (supporting the manager with fellow volunteers)

  • Recruit volunteers.
  • Train volunteers.
  • Co-ordinate the shop rota.
  • Merchandise stock.
  • Opening / Closing up the shop.
  • Operate electronic till to process purchases.
  • Support volunteers to provide excellent customer service.
  • Contribute to keeping the shop premises clean and tidy.
  • Ensuring stock and cash security.
  • Raise awareness of St Wilfrid’s Hospice and promote hospice activities.

  • Confident in cash handling (training will be given)
  • Physically able to carry out the duties of the role – lifting, standing
  • Retail experience is desirable
  • Volunteer management/leadership experience is desirable
  • Minimum age of 16
