Where: Throughout our catchment area 

When: Flexible, between the hours of 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday

DBS: Enhanced with adult barring check required

Additional information: This role involves spending time working independently with patients in their own homes. Full training and support will be given in this area.

About the role

To visit hospice patients in their own home and support them to work towards their rehabilitation goals. This will be under the guidance of the hospice therapy team.

Your skills, abilities and qualifications: 

  • Interested in helping people, patient and cheerful
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Approachable
  • Calm
  • Physically able to carry out the demands of the role
  • Car driver or able to get to and from different locations across our catchment area
  • Previous clinical experience would be beneficial but not essential to this volunteer role as full training and support will be given

Key responsibilities:

  • Visit hospice patients in their own homes for 4 – 6 sessions
  • Complete specified activities with patients as directed by a hospice therapist, these will vary in nature and full training will be given.
  • Tasks may involve being hands-on with patients, manual handling training will be given
  • Feedback to the therapy team on patients’ progress and contribute to patient notes
