Our volunteers are at the heart of our charity work as a hospice and play a vital role in everything we do. Without their time and generosity, we would not be able to provide our services to patients and their families. We're always looking to welcome new faces to our amazing team. If you have some time to spare and would like to make a difference in your local community, we would love to hear from you. We know that everyone is unique and people volunteer for all kinds of different reasons. We aim to meet these different motivations and lifestyles with a range of opportunities that support the work of the hospice and harness the compassion within our community. We strive to develop our volunteer programme so it works for you as well as us. We have a wide variety of roles available and would love to chat with you about any of them. From cake baking to event support, right through to retail assistants and administration support - we have a role for you! Qualities of a St Wilfrid's volunteer? There are many qualities that we look for in our volunteers to continue to provide the services we offer to our patients and their families. Each role has a selection of specific qualities and some roles do require recognised qualifications so please do read our job profiles carefully. However, if you are: Friendly Welcoming Compassionate Willing Flexible ...we would love to meet you! A HUGE THANK YOU! Why we need YOU! As a charity, we rely on the support of our community in donations of money and time. We are thankful for everyone who gives in these areas. We are always in need of volunteers to help us reach our charity's mission. To see a community where people talk openly about dying, live well until the end of their life and where nobody dies alone, afraid or in pain. We need your support to do this. We rely on the generous support of our community to help provide this free care to our patients and their families. Volunteers have always been an essential part of the hospice movement and our volunteers are vital to the future of hospice care in East Sussex. You are part of our future and maybe the missing part of one of our teams that enable us to do even more in our communities. What will it be like? Your volunteering will depend on what role you do. Have a look through our volunteer pages and see if there is something that you are interested in. If you are not sure what you would like to do just get in touch and we can discuss some of the possibilities. We have roles across all areas of the hospice and at different times of the day or evening and volunteers are included in the department team that they support. This video from one of our retail volunteers in Seaford shows something of what this particular role involves: What do I do now? Take your time to read through the job profiles here and see if any of the current volunteering opportunities match your skills. If you don't see anything that quite matches what you would like to do then please email [email protected] and we will gladly help you find a role to suit. On every volunteer profile page, you will find more details about the role, time and area commitment and if there are any specific qualifications/DBS that you need for the role. You will also find a downloadable application form for you to complete and send to us. Once we receive your application form, someone from the voluntary services team will review your application and get in touch to arrange a one to one meeting. This is an opportunity for us to find out a bit more about you and for you to ask any questions. We will also give you any relevant paperwork to support you with the role too. We will also start your DBS application if this is applicable to the role - but we will let you know what paperwork to bring with you should this be the case. Thank you for considering to volunteer with St Wilfrid's Hospice - we can't wait to meet you and find the perfect volunteering role for you!
