Where: St Wilfrid's Hospice Inpatient Unit, Street Café and Wellbeing Centre

When: four hours per week or fortnight, Monday to Sunday

Shift pattern: 8am to 12pm, 12pm to 4pm and 4pm to 8pm

DBS: enhanced check with adult barring required 

About the role

As a Host, you’ll be the first point of contact for patients, their guests and other visitors to the hospice. Always wearing a friendly smile, you’ll be there to greet and guide, lend a listening ear and be on-hand to carry out support tasks. No day is ever the same!

Key responsibilities

  • Meeting and greeting visitors to the hospice in a helpful and approachable way
  • Working as part of a team of Host Volunteers
  • Providing refreshments for patients and visitors
  • Working as guided by the Host Liaison
  • Be part of creating a supportive and relaxed hospice atmosphere
  • To pass on information and concerns to the relevant member of staff
  • Complying with relevant hospice policies and procedures
