Help us to care for local people for the next 40 years.

In 1980, a steering committee of local people was set up to develop the idea of a hospice and to raise the funds to make this a reality. Their vision was a world in which no-one should die alone, afraid or in pain.

In 2021, the need for end of life care is greater than ever before. Each year, St Wilfrid’s looks after more people, and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, demand continues to increase, particularly for patients needing support in their own homes.

For those coping with a terminal illness, and for friends and family caring for them, nothing can replace a friendly St Wilfrid’s Nurse arriving at the door, bringing expert care and support. Our entire team continues to work incredibly hard to give every patient the same personalised, compassionate care we’ve provided to local people for 40 years. Most people in the area will be touched by our care at some point in their lives.

‘I just want to be at home with my husband and my dog, and it’s so comforting when the nurse comes to see me here. The nurses are wonderful, worth their weight in gold.

This care is only possible because of the generosity of people like you, who provide 70% of the funds that we need to support local people.

Will you stand with us in our 40th anniversary year, and help us to be here, providing care for local people, for the next 40 years

Please give what you can and thank you.
