Willingdon Golf Club

‘The friendliest golf club in the South East’ *

From the elevated Clubhouse bar and terrace, both golfers and non-golfers alike will appreciate the magnificent view of our stunning downland course, which was re-designed nearly 100 years ago by the legendary architect of Augusta Golf Club, Dr Alister MacKenzie.

The course rests in a bowl at the foot of the South Downs, so not only is it protected from the harshest of weathers but also tends to be open all year round due to its amazing drainage.

The course

Measuring 6,158 yards from the competition tees, golfers of all abilities face a stiff but fair challenge at Willingdon. At all times of the year, players will find a perfectly manicured course with slick greens that are the envy of many other clubs.

Each hole on the course has its own memorable features, none more so than the course's signature hole, the short par 3 5th, which has a row of railway sleepers encircling the green. Every one of the holes presents a challenge and the experienced golfer at Willingdon knows that it is brains, not brawn, that will be needed to unlock the secret of a low score. At par 69, the course appears relatively easy, but many a good card has been ruined by underestimating the difficulty of the challenge, particularly on the par 3 holes.
