St Wilfrid's community shops wouldn't exist without your generosity. Thank you for thinking of them first

Donations are a must for St Wilfrid's charity shops - without your donations 100s of families wouldn't be able to receive their care completely free.

Whether you're raiding your wardrobe or making some extra space around the house, we're happy to find your unwanted items a new home.

Somebody in your community will love the things that you no longer do. Call us on 01323 418424 to donate items.

We thank you for your generosity and hope that you understand that we are not always able to accept every donation. This is often for safety reasons, but could be due to the fact that we are unable to sell or recycle the items leading to an additional cost of disposing of them.

We will let you know at the earliest possible opportunity when we are unable to accept items. Here is a list of what we are currently unable to accept:

Why can we not accept some donations?
St Wilfrid’s Hospice exists to support, empower and care for people at the end of life. The Retail Company directly supports this vision and all profits made in our shops and through retail income, directly benefit the hospice.

We are a not-for-profit retail company and any additional resource requirements such as disposing of unsaleable items can affect this. If we are able to generate additional income from items donated we will endeavour to do so. In most cases where we are not able to sell them through our shops, we will recycle them.

Where should I bring my donations?
You can bring donations to the Donation Centre, which is where we centrally sort all of our donated items. There is ample free parking and the team will be happy to help with your items. The Donation Centre is located at:

Technology Business Park, Moy Avenue, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN22 8LD.

Although open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, we would advise that the best time to drop off your donations is 10am to 4pm. You can drop off donations to any of our shops but please don't leave them outside as this often makes them unsaleable. Our usual opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

I have items that I can't bring to you myself, can you pick them up?

Can I register for Gift Aid?

If you would like to register for Gift Aid you need to complete a simple declaration form. We will register you as a gift aider to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

To register, please download this form and return it to us with your donated items. You will then simply be able to add your Gift Aid number to future donations or just your surname and postcode. Please ensure that this information is attached securely to your donated items.

How does Gift Aid work with donated items?

When you donate your items these will be logged against your Gift Aid account. You are donating items for the retail company to sell on your behalf.
When we sell the items this will be logged against your account. So that we use our resources efficiently, we do not usually claim the Gift Aid until we are able to claim at least £10. We will write to you or email you to advise when we are making a claim as you may opt to keep this money.
Please note that if you choose to keep this money this may be subject to an administrative charge plus VAT.
