Volunteer roles we are urgently looking for Read more • Host role – evening and weekend shifts • Retail Sales Assistants – all locations • Retail Donations Assistants - Eastbourne • Patient Escort – Wednesdays Supporting the minibus drivers with escorting patients to and from the hospice. • Streets Ahead Salon Volunteer Hairdressers • Streets Ahead Salon Beauty Therapists Always welcome - regular and ongoing roles around the hospice Read more • Hosts – particularly those who can do flexible cover shifts Hosts volunteer across the Inpatient unit, The Street café and the Wellbeing centre from 8am – 8pm, seven days a week. Hosts play an integral part of the care that St Wilfrid’s Hospice offers providing cover as part of a team across three shifts a day • Retail Sales Assistant Volunteer sales and merchandising assistants are always welcome in our shops in Eastbourne, Hailsham, Heathfield, Uckfield, Seaford and in our Eastbourne based furniture store. Pop along to your local store and speak to the manager to get started. You can download the retail application form and reference template from here. • Retail Donations Assistant We’re always looking for people to help us process our supporters’ donations, unearth hidden gems and assist the team with Gift Aid and telephone enquiries • Van Companion Our van team keep the retail company up and running, as a volunteer van companion you could help with our deliveries and collections and keep fit at the same time. • Streets Ahead Beauty Therapists The hospice community salon is growing increasingly popular and we are looking for qualified beauty therapists to donate a few hours of their time providing manicures and pedicures at the hospice. • Streets Ahead Hairdresser The hospice community salon is growing increasingly popular and we are looking for qualified hairdressers to donate a few hours of their time. • Administrative Support We are always looking for volunteers with administrative skills and experience to support work in all of our departments • Patient Drivers Volunteer drivers bring patients to and from some sessions as part of the Wellbeing Programme. We have a small team of brilliant drivers and would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining. Structured Volunteer Programmes and Projects Read more • Young Clinical Volunteer Programme Team 3 - starting in April A six month volunteer programme for 16-23 year olds interested in a career in medicine or healthcare. We are currently recruiting for the next cohort starting in April (application deadline 16th February 2018). • Gardening group – Saturday mornings An exciting new addition to the Wellbeing timetable starting this spring • Men’s Cookery Group – Fridays The male cookery group runs every Friday morning in the Wellbeing Centre and we have started recruiting for some volunteers to join the team and support the Occupational Therapist with running the group • Bereavement Support At certain times of the year we recruit bereavement support volunteers with relevant experience. We are not currently looking to recruit to this role. • Volunteer Complimentary Therapists We are slowly expanding our team of volunteer complimentary therapists. If you have the relevant accreditation and experience and would like to donate some of your time, please get in touch. Not much time to spare? Read more Events support Want to support your local hospice but your lifestyle doesn’t allow for a regular commitment? Why not join our events crew and help out at our community fundraising events. Community events are a great opportunity to meet others, have fun and support your local hospice. Cake baking If you’re a skilled baker and want to support the hospice by donating delicious baked goods, why not get in touch and we’ll add you to our list and give you a call when we have a cake sale coming up. Open Gardens The Open Gardens project is run by a committee of hard working, dedicated and passionate volunteers who run a yearly Open Gardens programme during the summer months on behalf of the hospice. Roles vary in time and commitment. If you would like to join the group, get in touch and Voluntary Services will put you in touch with the committee members.
