Thank you Amelia On Saturday 8th March, we met a young girl named Amelia, who came in to the hospice to be presented with a cheque for the wonderful amount of money that she had raised. She raised the money in memory of her Papa, Ron Meadwell, who was under the care of our Community Team and Wellbeing services, and she very kindly shared her fantastic fundraising story with us. On 14th February 2020, Amelia spoke about her Papa at his Celebration of Life at Eastbourne Crematorium. At the beginning of her speech she told everyone ‘to listen to me it will cost you all one pound each! Of which I’ll be going around with my bowl at the Seaford golf club to collect your money!’ Amelia sure did this and collected an amazing £721.45 for the hospice, which we are very grateful for and we would like to congratulate her for her clever money raising idea! She is now supported by our Seahorse Counselling Project, which offers one to one short-term bereavement support to young people within the catchment area like herself. If you would like to refer a young person, aged 6 to 17, for 1-1 short term bereavement-focused counselling, click here for our Seahorse Project information pages.
