We were delighted to receive a visit from the Lord Lieutenant for East Sussex, Peter Field and his wife, who were the first view the hospice gardens on the day they were open to the public.

They were joined by our Chair of Trustees Fiona MacIntyre and Chief Executive David Scott-Ralphs, as well as Patsy Thomas and Pauline Harrison, members of the hospice’s Open Gardens Committee.

David Scott-Ralphs commented on the visit: ‘It was a pleasure to welcome the Lord Lieutenant back to the hospice, as on the previous occasion he had accompanied HRH The Duchess of Cornwall when she officially opened the new hospice building in 2014. Both Peter Field and his wife were really interested to learn about the development of the hospice’s work since that time, as well as enjoying the tour of the gardens under the guidance of our knowledgeable gardener Kevin Loveland. They also had the opportunity to meet some of our gardening volunteers and recognised the huge amount of work the team does to make the gardens look so stunning. And the sun shone on us!’
