More than 950 superstars joined us for our fifth Starlight Stroll on Saturday 14th September!

Starlight Stroll is the St Wilfrid’s biggest fundraising event of the year, and 2018’s walk broke hospice records, when more than 1,100 people took part, raising tens of thousands of pounds for patient care along the way.

Starlight Stroll offers a chance for people who have been bereaved – whether under the hospice or not – to walk with friends, family and colleagues to remember those we have lost, and to celebrate their lives through the walk itself, along Eastbourne seafront, and by laying down personalised lanterns at the Italian Gardens halfway point.

Walkers were able to enjoy 4 and 6-mile routes – as they had done in previous years – but 2019’s event brought some exciting changes in the form of new start and finish points at Treasure Island and The Beach Deck respectively.

Walkers may have also noticed a few changes to the Italian Gardens, too, which were dazzlingly lit up by GPF Productions in the hospice’s trademark cyan and magenta, to create a beautiful, striking display.

The hospice’s Community Fundraising Manager, Sarah Marsh, said:

‘Starlight Stroll is always such a beautiful, moving event – and this year was no exception. St Wilfrid’s wouldn’t be able to achieve half as much as it does now without the generous support of the local community, so it was fantastic to see so many taking part in this year’s Starlight Stroll.

‘Thank you so much to those who walked for St Wilfrid’s, raised sponsorship for the hospice or donated, and to the nearly 100 volunteers who gave up their time to make this year so magical.'

We are hoping to announce the grand total raised from this year’s event soon, so please return your sponsorship to the hospice by the 25th October
