The iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride is taking place Sunday 15th September. Starting in Clapham Common and ending at Brighton’s picturesque seafront, this 55-mile ride is packed full of adventure and features the infamous Ditchling Beacon at mile 45.

We have several riders taking on the challenge for Team Wilfs, one of whom is Michael Reed, from Eastbourne. We caught up with him ahead of the challenge.  Michael is riding in memory of his brother-in-law, Ian Miles, who spent three weeks at St Wilfrid’s Hospice following a diagnosis of terminal oesophageal cancer. He died at the hospice on 23rd February 2019.

‘He was so happy to be there and the staff and volunteers all made his last few weeks of life dignified and peaceful.

‘My wife and her family were able to visit him any time and this was a great comfort to them.

‘Everyone was so kind to them both before and after his death supporting and advising on what needed to be done.

‘I am very much looking forward to riding for St Wilfrid’s and [am] privileged to wear [their] cycle top!’
