St Wilfrid’s Hospice’s Green Street shop in Eastbourne’s Old Town will be celebrating its first birthday this month – and the whole community is invited to get involved!

The shop will be running a special display on the theme of ‘Do you remember,’ where photos and memories of the Old Town area and St Wilfrid’s Hospice, submitted by the local community, will be displayed alongside nostalgic items for sale, such as Amanda Jane and Pippa dolls, wooden toys and a Stylophone.

The display will run for two weeks from Monday 22nd July until Saturday 3rd August and everyone is encouraged to pop in and view the display, reminisce, and add their own photos and memories of the distant – and not-so-distant – past.

Community Shop Mananger, Karen Lower said: ‘We wanted to do something a bit different for the shop’s first birthday, and we wanted to involve the community of Old Town; they have welcomed and supported us so generously from the beginning.

‘Our main celebration day is on our actual birthday on Thursday 25th July (with cake!) from 10.30am. So do come and join us for a drink, a nibble and a chat about your memories – we would love to see you.

‘We’re hoping the display is something that the community and shop volunteers alike can enjoy – it might even take a few down memory lane!

'The generous support of our volunteers have helped to make our first year so successful, and we're always looking for new team members to help make next year even better! Pop in for a cup of tea and a chat about how you could lend your skills – and pick up some new ones, too!'

St Wilfrid’s Green Street shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and is at 84 Green St, Eastbourne BN21 1RN, 01323 723495.
