Our group of 29 trekkers have made it back (in one piece plus a few blisters) after trekking almost 60km through the Moroccan part of the Sahara Desert. An absolutely incredible challenge to have completed this; they’ve conquered giant sand dunes, walked on rocky terrain, battled against the sandy winds of the desert and even climbed a small mountain. They’ve endured the dry heat of the desert by day and slept out in the freezing cold under the desert sky at night. No showers, and only long (sandy) drop toilets, this was no easy challenge.

They’ve travelled hours by bus to make it to the desert, and back again to Marrakech. New friendships have been formed, and existing relationships made even more special. Memories have been made that will last a lifetime, and they did it all to raise an incredible amount of money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice patient’s and their families, many of the group trekking in memory of loved ones.

Their current total stands at just over a whopping £64,400 with more funds still coming in, so we will give a final total raised in the coming weeks!

Thank you so much to each and every Sahara Trekker, we think you are all amazing!

Now, does this inspire you to take on The Great Wall of China for the hospice next year? 😊
