Introduction

Our new Bereavement Help Points Plus are part of a pioneering project to assist those in our community seeking support following a bereavement.

Created by St Giles Hospice in the West Midlands in 2012, Bereavement Help Points are a place where members of the public can access information and guidance on bereavement services in their local area. The Help Points are staffed by volunteers who have experience talking with people facing loss and are able to listen to visitors as well as help them understand and 'normalise' the feelings they are having.

This is not a counselling service, but rather volunteers will be trained and supported by the Bereavement Team at St Wilfrid's to meet visitors at the Help Points and sign-post community service and hospice services that they might find helpful.

For more information please contact [email protected] or visit one of our Help Points below.

Get Involved

We are looking to encourage and support a variety of organisations to run their own Help Point events in the spirit of compassionate communities.

Our input will be tailored flexibly to individual groups. We will help to provide information resources, teaching bereavement first-aid skills and to build necessary confidence.

Please contact [email protected] if this is something of interest to your organisation.
