Volunteer for St Wilfrid's

Hands up for St Wilfrid's!

Whether it's minutes or months, days or decades, every moment matters

Volunteers are at the heart of our hospice and play a vital role in everything we do. Without their time and generosity, we would not be able to provide our services to patients and their families.

We're always looking to welcome new faces to our amazing team. If you have some time to spare and would like to make a difference in your local community, we would love to hear from you. Click through the pages below to find out more. Why not get involved?

Why volunteer?

Volunteers have always been an essential part of the hospice movement and we believe that volunteers are vital to the future of hospice care.

We know that everyone is unique and people volunteer for all kinds of different reasons. We aim to meet these different motivations and lifestyles with a range of opportunities that support the work of the hospice and harness the compassion within our community. We strive to develop our volunteer programme so it works for you as well as us.

Benefits of volunteering

Our volunteers often tell us how rewarding their time with us is: you'll be part of a compassionate community and feel a real sense of pride for what you do. You'll meet new people, gain valuable experience, and develop your skill set.

We're passionate about helping people to reach their full potential, so we'll offer you relevant training and support.

What will it be like?

Your volunteering will depend on what role you do. Have a look through our volunteer pages and see if there is something that you are interested in. If you are not sure what you would like to do just get in touch and we can discuss some of the possibilities.

We have roles across all areas of the hospice and at different times of the day or evening and volunteers are included in the department team that they support.

What happens next?

Once we receive your application form, someone from the voluntary services team will review your application and get in touch to arrange a one to one meeting. This is an opportunity for us to find out a bit more about you and for you to ask any questions. We will also give you any relevant paperwork to support you with the role too.

If you want to volunteer in the retail company then please contact the relevant shop directly. Or you can send your application form to voluntary services and we will direct your application to the appropriate retail manager.
