An opportunity has arisen at St Wilfrid’s Hospice for an experienced  Doctor to join the medical establishment providing specialist palliative care to all patients under the care of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.  The post is offered from 1st December 2020 and is full time and permanent.

The vacant post is 1.0 WTE (4 days a week plus on call – see below).  The post will focus primarily on medical support to community teams through three of our community ‘hubs’.  And in addition, will have regular input to the Inpatient unit supporting junior doctors in delivering best palliative care.  The post will also contribute to the out of hours support for the Hospice with one night a week remote on-call (to coincide with the working day) and a 1 in 5 weekends on-call (1.5 programmed activities per week allocated to out of hours work).

The post offers generous supporting professional activities and the post holder will be expected to take the lead on one or two service development areas as well as an area of organisational management such as managing the medical team rota.  The proposed working days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 

Previous palliative care experience is essential and a local knowledge of services is desirable.
