Fixed Term Contract for up to three years

An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our community based volunteer program with an experienced Project Manager to lead our Big Lottery funded Community Volunteer Project. This role is a funded position for up to three years and is therefore being offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis.

As part of the project, you will be working alongside our Voluntary Services Development Manager and our Community Support Volunteers (CSVs) leading the wide scale expansion of our CSV project that provides social support for people affected by life-limiting conditions, to build community capacity and decrease social isolation in line with our ‘Closer to you’ strategy.

You will also oversee the co-ordination and continuing service of our Living Well Project led by our specialists in rehabilitative palliative care. You will be responsible for recruiting and managing a large number of volunteers working across our catchment area to aid these projects, as well as matching them with hospice patients that have been referred to the program.

With proven experience of delivering large complex projects with specified targets, you will have experience of community development and/or working with diverse communities to introduce new ideas and projects and will be comfortable working to strict/tight deadlines. 

You will be responsible for managing the relationships between the hospice, the volunteers and beneficiaries and leading on the volunteer training. You will be people-focused, quick to act and deliver and able to compile data and write succinct reports.

You will need to have substantial experience of working with volunteers and demonstrate that you have managed a small team as you will be responsible for one direct line report. You will preferably have experience of end of life care issues and have experience of undertaking risk assessments in vulnerable people’s homes, working with people with multiple complex issues and will be confident in representing the project and the hospice to external groups at a regional and national level.
