An opportunity has arisen for an assistant coordinator/ counsellor to join The Seahorse Project (Community Children and Young Persons' Bereavement Service) at St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

We are looking for a qualified counsellor who shares our values of being compassionate, professional, progressive and respectful and who has experience working with children and young people with complex needs. You will have sound knowledge of childhood bereavement principles and relevant legislation regarding children. Ideally, you will have some experience of working with young people with additional needs.

As a member of the Hospice multi-disciplinary team, you will carry your own small caseload (1:1 brief intervention counselling support). Alongside this you will have a key role in helping to grow and develop the project. For this, you will need excellent project co-ordination and administration skills. You will help develop a team of dedicated volunteers for the project and help build key relationships with external partners (e.g. schools). Undertaking telephone assessments and working with outcome measures as a model of care will also be part of the role.

You will be required to work one day on the weekend as part of your normal working week.

We are rated an ‘outstanding’ provider by the Care Quality Commission. We offer a supportive working environment within a skilled multidisciplinary team and the option to take part in clinical supervision.

We offer a generous holiday entitlement of 27 days per year plus bank holidays along with a contributory pension scheme.
