Dine in style in your own home.  Our Virtual Winter Banquet is an online dining event designed especially for these restricted times.  With a menu designed especially for St Wilfrid’s, using the highest quality ingredients, this will be a mealtime to remember.  We’ll give you everything you need for a very special evening in, with a few extras to make your dinner even more memorable. 

Here’s how it works:

Before the event, you pick up everything you need for the banquet – a box of goodies that will include your starter and dessert, wine, table centre, instructions and, most important of all, the ingredients for your main course.  Yes, you read that right, you get the ingredients.  Read on …

With your box of goodies at home, you will follow the pack instructions to make sure you’re ready for the meal to begin at 8pm (don’t be late, this is the most important table reservation of the year!).  There will be a little preparation to do; perhaps a few ingredients to prepare, the table to set, getting dressed up for dinner. 

8pm: SIGN IN to the Virtual Banquet (you’ll have full instructions in your banquet pack).  Our event maître’d will welcome you and guide you through the evening.  We’ll drink together, enjoy some online entertainment, a very special silent auction and, of course, the wonderful food.

But what about those ingredients that we gave you? This is the very special part.  An online masterclass to cook your main course with our very talented chef, Jethro Carr.  Time to get your ‘chef’ on!  Live from his kitchen in Brighton, Jethro will guide you through step by step to create your perfect main course.  Masterchef meets Saturday Kitchen; this is a chance to learn a few secrets of the chef and to create the perfect main course to enjoy. 

Key info:

  • Dietary preferences can be catered for, you just need to let us know in advance of the banquet and we can adapt all the courses to suit you.
  • Banquet packs will need to be collected from the hospice during the day of the event.  Arrangements can be made for an alternative pick up points/delivery if you are unable to get to the hospice but we will need to know in advance so we can make these arrangements for you. 
  • Starter and dessert will be pre-prepared but may involve simple additional preparation prior to serving.
  • Full instructions will be provided.

 

About the Chef

Meet Jethro Carr.  Director of The Kitchen Academy, Jethro has run cookery classes all over the UK. Jethro has developed a range of services to meet with client demands including cookery demonstrations at events including Farmers Markets, Food Festivals and Music Festivals. He has also worked alongside world-famous musicians as they cook food from their home countries, taught people in sheltered accommodation to cook and has also provided Smoothie Bikes for the Tour De France.

To date, he has been commissioned by a variety of organisations including the BBC Good Food Shows, The Soil Associations Organic Food Festivals, Fairtrade, the WOMAD Foundation, The Tour De France, BBC Spring Watch, The Cabinet War Rooms Dig For Victory, Kew Gardens, Blenheim Palace, Fareshare and many more.
