"It’s so exciting, the wind pins you back, I loved it!"

60-year-old Eastbourne grandmother Shirley decided to take a walk on the wild side when she was lifted up to 500ft in the air for a daredevil wing walk – raising over £1,000 for the hospice!

‘Your stomach goes a bit when you take off – it’s like being in a plane but with the wind. I could see for miles. The plane took off near the Dartford Tunnel and I could see The Shard clear as day. I’d do it again – it was amazing.

‘Over the years I have known a few people who have been cared for by the wonderful staff at St Wilfrid’s Hospice. All of us will never know when we may need these amazing people.’

Ronald, Shirley’s husband, watched her soar high above the ground to help raise funds for the hospice.

‘She’s very brave! She was in the air for 20 minutes – when she came by, she was waving away!’
