Volunteering with St Wilfrid's

Whether it's minutes or months, days or decades, every moment matters

Volunteers are at the heart of our hospice and play a vital role in everything we do. Without their time and generosity, we would not be able to provide our services to patients and their families.

We're always looking to welcome new faces to our amazing team. If you have some time to spare and would like to make a difference in your local community, we would love to hear from you. Click through the pages above to find out more.

Why not get involved?

Our Community Support Volunteers (CSVs) are fully trained volunteers who offer companionship to end of life patients in their own homes. They might help with everyday things like making a cup of tea, providing respite to families, or be on hand for a game of Scrabble!

Our CSVs embody what it means to be a good neighbour, and thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are delighted to roll our the project to even more patients across our catchment area. Here's what a few of them say about their visits:

‘A visit from my CSV really lifts my spirits.’

‘I forget about my problems.’

‘Oh, she is brilliant, wonderful, amazing and… what other good words are there? Fantastic and special.'

We are recruiting more CSVs to make the expansion of this much-needed service possible; to take part, you simply need a kind heart and have a couple of hours spare each week to visit a patient close to where you live.

We will give you training, ongoing support and happily welcome you to our hospice community.
