For the second year in a row, young James Berry decided he wanted to help raise funds for his local hospice. After a successful first year, in which the children and their parents raised £600 through face painting, tea and cake sales and bric-a-brac stalls, the plucky young fundraiser set himself an even higher target.

On a beautiful sunny day in the harbour, the team of tiny but undaunted fundraisers served cups of tea, slices of cake and other fun items – raising a mammoth total of £1,020 in just 2 hours!

The little ones joined the hospice Community Fundraising manager, Darren Maylam, in celebrating this total by visiting the hospice café and talking about their achievement with hospice staff.

James also created a website for the fundraising event and to promote the hospice’s work, which can be seen at tinyurl.com/2017cakesncrafts
