Jail & Bail: The Great Escape After the coronavirus put a stop to our Jail & Bail prisoners being locked up in March, we were thrilled to announce that the event had been rescheduled. On Friday 9th October, Jail & Bail: The Great Escape – a new, socially distanced twist on the original event - took place in The Wish Tower. Eight prisoners were locked up two at a time with 30 minutes to solve the St Wilfrid’s riddles. Whoever solved the riddles first won their freedom. The eight prisoners who took part were: Catherine Clifford, Partner of the Best Western Lansdowne Hotel; James Chatfield, owner of Chatfields Jewellers;Alan Breeze, St Wilfrid’s Trustee and Director of Breeze & Associates; Pam Russell, St Wilfrid’s very own Development Director; Luca Albertoli, owner of Pomodoro y Mozzarella and La Locanda Del Duca restaurants;Tim Morgan, Partner in Barwell’s Solicitors; Dan Weston, of P. Weston Developments & InstallationsJulie Eltham, of the Athena Ladies Networking Group Our prisoners all did extremely well, with each pair solving at least one of the four riddles available. There was a fantastic sense of camaraderie, with our pairs working together to solve the riddles from their individual cells. Hannah Hildreth, our Community Fundraiser, said: ‘We were thrilled that the event could finally go ahead after being postponed, and our prisoners were all such good sports on the day, getting into character and having a brilliant time. ‘The Wish Tower provided the perfect venue, and I’d like to say a big thank you to Liz Crew and the Wish Tower Friends for use of the venue. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful prisoners for all of their fabulous fundraising and support!’ The bandits have raised just over £11,000 already, but there is still time for you to donate to their JustGiving pages, which you can find here.
