‘We’re raising money to remember Grandad George, who stayed at the hospice for 20 days before he died. It felt like home to us all and there was a sense of peace for us being there.'

Jemma and her daughter Lilly, 3, visited us to talk about the fun event near Hailsham they're holding which has generated lots of interest recently – gathering loads of sponsors, raffle prizes and amazing food and drink stalls in just a few weeks!

'St Wilfrid's cared for our grandad and did the most amazing job - I know that they have touched so many people’s hearts with their great efforts. We want to raise as much money as possible and give them something back for being so amazing with George. We couldn't have asked for more.’

Running the event with her sister in law, Emma, the Weekes family are raising money with a day of festivities in memory of George.

‘This event means a lot to us. We’re really looking forward to raising some money for such an amazing cause. The whole day of fundraising involves so many things – a hog roast, silent auction, coffee and cake in beautiful Bodle Green Village Hall, given to us for the day.'

‘We will have lots of homemade cakes, pastries, biscuits and more – not to forget all the tea, coffee and cold drinks. We've got a charity band - El Bando Burros - and it's open invite - bring along everyone you know! We will be doing a raffle and some other games to make it quite fun; we’re encouraging the whole area to get together and have a fun day out – bring as many people as you like, whatever your age!’

Raffle prizes include:

- A week’s stay in a beautiful farm retreat
- Two days of labour from an expert carpenter
- Beauty therapy, restaurant, pub and florist vouchers
- Hampers of goodies
- Wreath-making courses
- A tattoo of your choice
and many more!

It's on 21st October, from 10:30am to 5pm with Hog Roast at 3pm
