Our patient gardens welcomed a surprise guest and her unruly brood this spring - a duck and her 17 ducklings!

The feathered friends of the hospice have made our secluded gardens their go-to spot for rearing chicks as the gardens are warm, sheltered and safe from most 4-footed predators. They particularly enjoy our fountains and all the lovely undergrowth - perfect for hiding in and snacking on tinier bugs.

However the ducklings and their mother would be disturbed over time by people using the gardens with their loved ones so we moved them to their new home - Hampden Park.

Front of House manager Andrew and Head Gardener Kevin were responsible for moving the little creatures to a small lake nearby, where they swam safely off into the sunset.
