Without the continued generosity of our community, we could not provide the specialist care and support to those who need us at their most vulnerable. Thank you! Kara Bishop, Chief Executive
How legacy gifts have helped

To all those who have supported St Wilfrid’s by giving in their wills we are so very grateful.

In 2008/09  St Wilfrid’s was able to support 70% of its Clinical support staff from its legacy income.

Over the years the surplus of legacy income over running costs has allowed improvements to take place in the environments of the Hospice and for us to save for our new hospice build. Much of the £8 millon that is already earmarked for the rebuild have come from legacy giving. We will always remember our benefactors and our new building will be a tribute to their memories.

Many, over the years, who have not been able to support St Wilfrid’s in a substantial way in their lifetimes, because of living costs and dwindling income have yet given at the end of their lives and this dedication shows in the generosity of their giving.

Many want to give in memory of a loved one and some have set up tribute trusts that bring in income and support the work as the years go on.

Not only is the first class clinical care funded by legacy giving but also those other services which mean so much to our patients and their families. Our Bereavement Services, our Chaplains, our Administration Staff, our Cooks and our Housekeepers and the myriad of workers that a modern and well run Hospice needs.
