Spiritual care

The Chaplaincy at St Wilfrid’s Hospice exists to provide spiritual and religious care to everyone: our patients and their families, staff and volunteers.

Within the framework of the holistic care for which St Wilfrid’s Hospice is well known, we also pay great attention to the spiritual dimension that is within all of us.

As part of our care team, there is a full-time Chaplain based at the Hospice, assisted by a small team of Chaplaincy Volunteers. They are here to:

  • Offer companionship to those who may be struggling on their spiritual journey, as well as strengthening those who feel assured by their faith
  • Offer spiritual care and support to those of any faith, and also to those of none; to be silent, to listen or to talk
  • Arrange a visit by a leader from your own church or religious tradition on request

We have a dedicated room for personal reflection or prayer, and we also offer:

  • Holy Communion at the bedside - available upon request
  • Special  Services - available upon request
  • Annual ‘Lights of Love’ services
  • Visits out in the community – available upon request

If you would like any more information, or simply would like an informal chat about the work of the Chaplaincy, please do not hesitate to call us:
