Bereavement Care

Bereavement care

The diagnosis of a terminal illness has an impact on the whole family.

We recognise the emotional, psychological and social care and support that might be needed during an illness.  This support is available via the nursing and medical team but also through our Psychosocial services.

Psychosocial care addresses the psychological issues of coping with a life-limiting illness for the patient, and the impact on their family.  It involves spiritual beliefs, culture and values and the social factors which influence our lives.  Psychosocial care includes the practical aspects of care such as financial, housing and aids to daily living and overlaps with spiritual care.

Bereavement Care

Losing someone can create a wealth of emotions and thoughts, with different intensities at different times. The aim of our bereavement care is to offer different levels of support to meet individual needs. Telephone support is available and we also offer one-to-one support at the hospice or at the individual's/family home.

We also organise remembrance ceremonies and bereavement groups.
