Meet Angie

I see patients in the Wellbeing Centre at outpatient appointments, and I also treat those staying on the ward. I offer holistic therapies such as aromatherapy, reflexology and massage. These can help to relieve symptoms such as pain, anxiety, breathlessness and nausea.

I remember treating a particular gentleman who was in a lot of pain and really struggling with his breathlessness. The treatments I gave him helped to ease this, and one day he came in and told me that he had managed to walk around the block. It meant everything to him to regain that sense of independence; he was so happy! Knowing I've made that kind of difference to people is simply amazing- the ultimate privilege.

Wellbeing

We offer services and treatments to help maximise independence and wellbeing.

You might need help managing a physical problem like pain, breathlessness, tiredness or lack of appetite, or with dealing with fears, or family or financial worries. We will address these issues through our physio-led gym, Fatigue and Breathlessness clinic, and a range of treatments, therapies and advice.

Once referred to our Wellbeing Centre, you'll be allocated a keyworker who will meet with you to assess your needs and plan a tailored programme, which will be regularly reviewed. Following an initial period of eight weeks, you may be directed to a different service within the centre, or discharged.

'Thanks to the hospice, my quality of life is so much better.

'I come to the men's cookery group every Friday, and I really enjoy it. Often, it's the only time I'll go out in the week. Everyone's patient with me and it's just nice to be around people who understand. It's a good laugh too!'
