Meet one of our lovely nurses, Vikki

'I'm part of an amazing, diverse team- we work to bring symptoms under control, enable patients to reach their goals, and ensure that people feel comfortable and safe.

'Naturally, there are moments of sadness, but there's so much love and happiness in the hospice. I remember we once looked after a lady who would save her pudding for her husband every single day- that really touched me. I don't think I've ever saved my pudding for anyone!

'I can't cure anyone, but I can improve their situation and be part of a truly special time. It's an absolute honour to be able to make a difference.'

Inpatient Unit

Our Inpatient Unit has 15 short-stay, en suite bedrooms. During your stay, we'll focus on the issues that matter to you.

People are admitted to our Inpatient Unit so that our specialist team of doctors, nurses and therapists can ease/control symptoms such as pain or sickness, address worries and fears, and help people to get strong enough to cope independently at home again.

Each of our rooms backs on to a beautiful garden which you are welcome to enjoy. Family and friends are able to visit at any time, and a close relative or friend can stay with you overnight if you wish.

'I can't even tell you how much my stay on the ward did for me.

'When I first came in, even moving around in bed was a struggle. I was offered physio and assumed the best case scenario would be to get to the toilet independently, but things have completely transformed. I can get out with the dog and walk into the hospice café from the car. I have a feeling of self back.'
