Get your school involved

Every year, the amazing support of schools and colleges in our community raises over £12,000!

We love building long term relationships with schools, helping to educate pupils about the importance of hospice care, and inspiring them to make a difference in their local community. Maybe some are the St Wilfrid's Hospice doctors, nurses, caterers or community fundraisers of the future!

How your school can help us

There are many ways your school could get involved and help our nurses be there for those in need. You could hold a school wide Care for a Cuppa, enjoy a Hats for Hospices mufti day, or come to one of our many fantastic events. We loved having Eastbourne Academy at our Starlight Stroll last year! If you're in need of a little inspiration, you might enjoy reading through our A-Z of fundraising ideas, which may compliment coursework or other curriculum activities.

You could also initiate conversation with your students during Dying Matters Week or Hospice Care Week.

How we can help your school

We understand that it can be difficult to breach the subject of end of life, particularly to young people who may never have thought about it or may not have experienced loss themselves. There are also lots of misconceptions associated with hospice care. With this in mind, we'd be more than happy to come to a school assembly or fundraising event to tell you and your pupils what we do and how your support will help.
If you are hosting an event, we'll publicise it on our website diary and social media, provide a pop up banner, flags, collection buckets and balloons, and make sure everybody involved receives a personalised certificate and thank you letter.

If you'd like to get your school or college involved in supporting our hospice, we'd love to hear from you or your pupils! You can call us on 01323 434241 or email us. Every penny you raise will help our nurses be there for our patients and their families.
